Kinja'd!!!

I tried to access the tag where I have literally years of aviation history posts, and it’s coming back with a server error.

Does it work for any other tags?

Kinja has been a right shitshow lately. I’ll be logged in on Oppo and blackflag in two different tabs and it won’t let me comment or even re-login in one while the other works just fine. Hoping that’s all it is...

I got an error following your link, but http://oppositelock.kinja.com/tag/planelopnik-history works for me.

Oppositelock rather than just base kinja.

That goes back to this post in 2/2015: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/february-18-1977-1686526212

Wow. Thanks. That’s plenty far back. Instead of writing, I guess I’ll spend my night copying my text. If I save each date range (3 or 4 days) as an html file, what does that do for me?

It looks like the problem was that you didn’t have oppositelock at the start of the url

I was going from a bookmark that I’ve had and used for ages. I guess it just got klangfarbened somehow. Thanks. I’ve been meaning to get all of this text off of the Kinja servers, so I guess now is as good a time to do that as ever.

I’d think saving everything as html should work. Your browser should automatically save all the images in a subfolder as well when you do that. You can check that it’s working by opening the html (if you want to be extra sure, do it while disconnected from the internet so that you know everything is local), and you can see what everything looks like saved. There are other ways you can save it, but I think html would be easiest going forward.

I’m not sure if it’s saving the pictures, but that doesn’t concern me all that much since I have all the pictures saved elsewhere. I was able to open the html file in TextEdit on the Mac, and I can even edit it there. So, at the end of the day, I have the words, and that’s the most important thing. Thanks for your help. I will now be able to sleep tonight. After I back up two years worth of posts....

Yeah, looks like kinja does something with image loading that keeps them from being saved as part of a normal webpage save. Probably some deferred image loading or some such. Glad you’re able to get what you need.

Me too! I’m not sure what happened with the tag. I tried to access it from the same bookmark I’ve been using forever. Maybe something happened behind the scenes. Anyway, I’m going to pull all this stuff tonight, and try to keep up with future posts. Thanks again. I’m breathing now...

I think it was you one time posted a video of a used car salesmen in the UK that swapped jobs with another used car salesmen, one being from a normal lot and the other from an exotics place
